Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Additions and Alterations to the Winston Churchill Theatre at 2 Leinster Rd, Ptn 1 of Erf 1482 Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal, Drawings : A101-A107

Expanded_Motivation: 

The site is located at 2 Leinster road and is bounded by Leinster rd and the Fox Hill Spruit to the West. The first approved plan for buildings on the property is dated 17 June 1953. A building was built for The Pietermaritzburg District United War Memorial Association, it was designed as a club-house. The building now houses the Booking office. Building plans dated 1967 propose the Theatre building, the cottage and they show the garden of remembrance and a playground on the Northern end of the property. The foundation stone of the Theatre was laid on 6 December 1969 by “Old Bill” E.Milford in memory of fallen comrades. The stone records : The architect : W.L.Chiazzari Quantity Surveyors : C.R.Cornell and Ptnrs Contractors : R.Barras Construction (Pty) Ltd. Engineer : M.A.A.Dyer The proposed alterations and additions are for a full upgrade of the complex, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing and drainage.
