Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

The permit is issued to Ms Celeste Booth, Department of Archaeology, Albany Museum, Grahamstown, and Ms Margaret-Ashley Veall, Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, University of Oxford,  to temporarily export 78 samples from stone tools and hafted implements from Melkhoutboom Cave for chemical analysis  at the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, University of Oxford, UK, from February to October 2016. The specimens are currently hosted by the Albany Museum, Grahamstown.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported. The bulk of the material remains in the collections of the Albany Museum, Grahamstown.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the respective Museum, in which it is accessioned.

3. The material will be air-couriered by DHL couriers.

4. Ms. Margaret-Ashley Veall is responsible for the transport to and from the above mentioned facility.

5. Ms. Margaret-Ashley Veall is responsible for the cost of the return of the material.

6. The specimens must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

7. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

8. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before the 28 February 2017.

9. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

12. The material must be returned by the date the permit expires.
