Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Upgrade of existing road Schroda farm, MPNP

This permit is issued to Ms Aletta Maria Coetzee and Mr Chrispen Chauke of the South African National Parks (SanParks) for the upgrade and restoration of approximately 400 meter of gravel road between the De Beers Schroda Pump Station and the Vhembe Wilderness Camp junction within the Mapungubwe National and World Heritage Site.  

Conditions:

  1. The construction activities must be monitored by either Ms Aletta Coetzee and Mr Chrispen Chauke. The road construction near the Schroda national heritage site must be monitored by an archaeologist;
  2. The activities will consist of:
  3. The upgrade of a 400 meter gravel road between the De Beers Schroda Pump Station and Vhembe Wilderness Camp Junction.
  4. The permit is approved based on the following specifications: 
  5. Concrete shall be class 25/19
  6. One layer bottom steel 395 welded mesh
  7. Exposed concrete edges will be chamfered (25mm X 25mm)
  8. The contractor and employees must receive a basic induction on the types of heritage resources that could possibly be found during construction activities. 
  9. A final report on the results of the maintenance activities should be submitted to SAHRA at the end of construction and before 31 December 2020. .
  10. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and to ensuring that she has an understanding with the landowner concerning: the number of visitors and workers; speed limits on access roads; possible prohibitions on off-road driving; size, type and number of vehicles permitted; possible prohibitions on trespassing beyond the site; disturbing fauna, flora or substrate; appropriate hours of visiting and working on the Site; use of firewood, electricity and water; lighting fires and the prevention of uncontrolled fires and any fencing necessary to protect livestock. Conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
  11. The amount of traffic, i.e. numbers of people on site, should be minimised as much as possible to avoid excessive disturbance of the Schroda national heritage site. 
  12. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
  13. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
