Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Expanded_Motivation: 

HISTORICAL REPORT \ SIGNIFICANCE The existing records indicate the original dwelling was built in 1944. With regards to the property’s historical significance it is a typically pre-war Durban home as were most of the homes along Wylie Road. The main dwelling is typical of the time in which it was built, it does not have defining finishes and details. If the out-building did have any specific features they unfortunately do not exist any-more. ARCHITECTURAL REPORT & PROPOSAL The main dwelling and out-building seems to be in a fairly good structural condition with mostly general maintainance required. Keith Dauth has appointed Kwaramu Symmetry to submit building plans for the minor alterations to the existing dwelling. The minor additions to the Main Dwelling are as follows: 1. Illegally enclosed front verandah to be legalised. 2. All timber framed windows converted to aluminium windows, to conform to Part N of SANS 0400. Out Building 1. The existing out-building remains as per initial approved plan. The impact of these alterations and additions to the main dwelling out-building, has minimal impact to the architectural character of the precinct. Please refer to Drawing No. 0409_SR_25 URBAN SETTING & ADJOINING PROPERTIES. The dwellings along Wylie Road, have a very similar historical architectural style, this is fortunately, maintained. Most of the houses have at some stage been altered with many of them having alterations preserving the character of the property.
