Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Expanded_Motivation: 

The South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) is the authority responsible for the maintenance of National Routes throughout South Africa. The proposed development comprises the rehabilitation and upgrade of a short portion of Section 19 (km92.4 and km94.8) which runs through the town of Mount Frere, and the entire length of Section 20 (km0.0 – km39.4) of the N2 Freeway, which runs between the town of Mount Frere and the Ngcweleni River, Umzimvubu Local Municipality, Eastern Cape. The proposed upgrade and rehabilitation work that is associated with the project includes: • The strengthening of the existing pavement; • General widening of the existing road cross section to allow for the installation of climbing lanes and 2.5m wide road shoulders; • Vertical and horizontal geometric improvements aimed at improving the safety of road users; • Widening of bridges and major culverts to accommodate the widened road; • Widening of existing agricultural underpass and drainage structures to accommodate the widened road; • Upgrade and extension of 173 minor culverts for stormwater management; and • Capacity improvements to the interchange between the N2 Freeway and the R405 Provincial Road located in Section 19 of the N2 and within the boundaries of Mount Frere town. In addition, the road reserve will be widened to a width of 50m.
