Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Good Hope Exhibition at Rijksmuseum

For temporary export of fifty-five (55) archaeological items:

Inscribed border stone (SACHM6122); carved stone from entrance of Castle of Good Hope (CoGH/001); 3 postal stones (SACHM6116, SACHM90/450, SACHM6114); 10 copper beads (SAM-AA9070/MC/001 and 1 from Tortoise cave); 1 Tortoise Cave copper pendant; 5 OPI clay pipes; 7 raspberry beads; 15 amber beads; 1 wound bead; 4 black glass beads; 2 bone beads; 5 OPI metal fragments

The permit is issued to Ms Esther Esmyol, Iziko Museums of South Africa, Cape Town, on behalf of Wim Pijbes and Taco Dibbits, General Directors at Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, to temporarily export the fifty-five items outlined above for the purpose of exhibition in The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, from 15 January 2017 to 11 June 2017. The specimens are accessioned by the Iziko Museums of South Africa in Cape Town.

Conditions:

1. The objects or specimens must be clearly marked with accession numbers.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the site, and the name and address of the permit holder or the repository.

3. The material must be accompanied by a curator or sent via a reputable professional courier service unless written instructions to the contrary have been received from the repository.

4. The Rijksmuseum will be responsible for the object and its safekeeping for the duration of the exhibition until its return to the Iziko Museum.

5. SAHRA must be notified in writing regarding the arrangement for the transport of the object before its export and return to South Africa.

6. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the Rijksmuseum without the consent of SAHRA.

7. SAHRA must be notified in writing of the return of the material, and a report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 31 December 2017.

8. Copies of all publications, catalogues, and media resulting from this exhibition must be lodged with SAHRA.

9. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

10. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

11. The material must be returned by the date the permit expires.
