jaco.boshoff 11/07/2012 - 09:06 There is not enough information in this application. No historical research and frankly quite a pathetic site plan. We for instance do not know whether there was loss of live on the vessel. I can deduce from the name that it was Japanese, but was it a cargo vessel or fishing trawler? Also historical importance has not been established. As this is pre WWII what is the significance of this vessel with regards to the then ascending Japanese Empire and its relations with the west? To me this makes it an incomplete application and can therefore not support it.
john.rogers 19/07/2012 - 13:08 Insufficient information. Date of wreck? Marine archaeologist needed only if pre-1850?

jaco.boshoff 11/07/2012 - 09:13 Very much the same as with the Paris Maru application. Added to this, if it is a popular dive site then it is imperative that other users be consulted. If for instance a dive charter company regularly take customers to dive on the site, how would this salvage affect their business and tourism in general in the PE area? I think we should as a matter of course ask for a desktop study for these applications with at least an attempt at doing some kind of historical research that is coherent and that makes some kind of sense.
