Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

THE NATIONAL DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS HAVE APPOINTED MNI ARCHITECTS TO DESIGN , AS MORE ACCOMMODATION IS NEEDED. THERE ARE TWO EXISTING BUILDINGS(OLDER THAN 60 YEARS: ERF437 WAS USED AS SAPS OFFICES AND NOW CURRENTLY BEING USED AS A FAMILY COURT AGE UNKNOWN; ERF434 IS THE ORIGINAL COURT BUILDING ERRECTED IN 1942) THAT WILL BE REHABILITATED AND UNDERGO MINOR NEW RENOVATIONS TO ACCOMMODATE SUPPORT ADMINISTRATION SERVICES AND ONCE COURT ROOM, PENDING AMAFA APPROVAL. THE BUILDINGS WILL BE TREATED IN A SENSITIVE MANNER TO RETAIN THEIR HERITAGE VALUES. THE ALTERATIONS WILL BE MINIMALLY INVASIVE OF THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURE. THE FOLLOWING ALTERATIONS ARE PROPOSED: DEMOLITION OF A FEW INTERAL WALLS; ADDITION OF NEW INTERNAL WALLS; ADDITION OF NEW INTERNAL WALLS; NEW FINISHES AND FITTINGS TO ALLOW FOR THE ACCOMMODATION OF OFFICES; A COVERED PASSAGE(CONNECTING THE EXISITING BUILDINGS WITH THE NEW BUILDINGS); THE DEMOLITION OF A PORTION OF THE BUILDING THAT IS REGARDED AS AN INSENSITIVE ADDITION REFERRING TO THE BUILDING ON ERF434 AND IN PARTICULAR THE EXISTING CELL BLOCK ADDED IN 1978.
