Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Permit application for a temporary export permit for eight (8) objects from the Robben Island Museum (RIM) to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR). The exhibition at the CMHR titled "Mandela: Struggle for Freedom” will run from December 2017 - January 2019 (extended to September 2019)

Expanded_Motivation: 

-Purpose of loan: To illustrate the narrative and add value to the content of the temporary exhibition, provisionally entitled: “Mandela: Struggle for Freedom” -Duration of the exhibition: 19th May 2018 to 6th January 2019 -Total duration of the loan: December 2017 to end January 2019 (allowing for (re)packing, transportation and (de)installation of exhibition) -Location during loan: Level 1 Gallery, Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) During the course of 21016/2017 curatorial representatives for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights located in Winnipeg, Canada came to explore material to enhance the narrative for their upcoming temporary exhibition, provisionally entitle: "Mandela: Struggle for Freedom". The request was carefully assessed by RIM and the selection of artefacts agreed contain generic/general material related to imprisonment and segregation. *2020/02/27 Update: A further request to extend the exhibition to one additional location. Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, Halifax. Compliance date has been changed to reflect the request, and the necessary documentation (loan agreements and facilities reports) have been loaded. The email request has been added to the case tracking.
