Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Project Name: Lethabo Solar Energy Facility Applicant: Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd Proposed Activity: Construction of a 75MW solar energy facility and associated infrastructure within the Lethabo coal fired power station boundary near Sasolburg in Free State Province. The proposed facility will comprise: Arrays of photovoltaic (PV) panels. Mounting structures to support the PV panels. Cabling between the project components. Inverters/transformer enclosures. An on-site substation or switching station. A power line to facilitate the connection of the solar energy facility to a substation located within the Lethabo power station. Internal access roads. Buildings (which could include workshop area for maintenance and storage, and an on-site office) Location: The site is located on Eskom-owned land within the Lethabo coal fired power station boundary, on Farm 1814 and the remaining portion of farm Brankfontein 9 approximately 25 km north-east of Sasolburg in Free State Province. An area of ~112 ha is intended to be utilised for the establishment of the 75MW PV facility. The site is located within the jurisdiction of Fezile Dabi District Municipality and Metsimaholo Local Municipality. In terms of sections 24 and 24D of NEMA, as read with the EIA Regulations of GNR543, GNR544; GNR545; and GNR546, a Scoping and EIA Study process is required to be undertaken for the proposed project.
